“Mum and Dad had been together for over 50 years.
Dad’s death was sudden. A shock to us all but, we reasoned, probably better for him than a long, painful illness. Who knows. Mum seemed to age 10 years overnight but the birth of a long-awaited grandson a few weeks later helped to fill the gap.
By contrast, Mum’s death was a slow deterioration, as her mind and body began failing. Watching how frightened she was, was very upsetting and she had to spend her final months in care. It was horrible and I’m still having difficulty dealing with it but so glad that she’s at peace now.
I like to think that they are now reunited.”
We thank Ms. P for sharing such a difficult experience after scattering her mother’s ashes.
